San Antonio Tile And Grout Cleaning (Final Thoughts)

While we live in the age of do it yourself, there is a lot to be said for hiring a professional tile cleaning service in San Antonio.

Getting Professional Results From a San Antonio Tile and Grout Cleaning Service

From streaming media to shows on cable and satellite, and even videos online, there is a plethora of do it yourself shows out there and that includes steps on how to clean your tile and grout yourself.  However, what all of this informative content fails to stress is just how difficult it all is.  For example, grout cleaning involves being on all floors and using a toothbrush, potentially for hours at a time.  You're going to need pads for your hands and for your knees, and a back brace as well, or otherwise, when you're done, you're going to be a lot of pain, particularly if you're older or you've suffered some injury.
As we covered previously, once you realize how important it is that your tile floor is properly cared for the next thing you need to do is hire a professional company for tile cleaning and grout cleaning. There are a lot of handyman type services out there that may claim to be able to clean your tile and grout, but hiring them would be a mistake. Lacking the training, experience, supplies, and equipment of a true professional, a handyman is much less likely to do as good of a job as a professional tile cleaning company. A handyman is also much more likely to end up causing damage to your floors or another part of your home while they are working on it. The worst part is that if a handyman does damage your home or floors there's not much you can do about it and you will likely end up having to pay for the repairs yourself.

A Tile Cleaning Service Will Deliver Professional Results in a Short Amount of Time

The same holds true if you try to clean your tile yourself.  So what can you do?
Instead of trying to save yourself a little money and risking a lot by doing so, make the smart decision and hire a professional tile cleaning company. A tile cleaning company that is licensed, bonded, and insured will not only do a better job, they will also have insurance to protect you in the event that they cause any damage while working in your home. The bottom line is that hiring a professional company for tile cleaning, grout cleaning, and grout sealing is going to be your best option.

A San Antonio tile and grout cleaning service can help with a wide variety of services.  One of the most important of which is grout sealing.

Why You Should Seal Your Grout

As we covered previously, when you had your tile floors put in one thing that should have been done is the grout should have been sealed. Unfortunately, grout sealing doesn't last forever, and once the sealant has worn out it's important that you have your grout sealed again by a professional. Why is grout sealing important? For one thing, grout is not waterproof. It's made from a mixture of sand and mortar which makes it both inexpensive as well as flexible. The reason you need grout is to allow your rigid floor tiles to have the room to move and expand slightly. While grout works to fill the spaces between tiles, it is not waterproof which means that any liquids that come into contact with it will penetrate it. This will lead to having the grout wear out faster so that it needs to be replaced, and it could also allow moisture to get trapped under your floor.
Reapplying grout to your tile floors is not a technically challenging job, and it's also not that expensive. What it is, however, is a major inconvenience as well as a lot of work. It's going to involve spending hours on your hands and knees putting in grout, then removing the excess grout. This is hardly anybody's idea of fun, so if there were a simple way to avoid this then why wouldn't you take advantage of it?

Only Hire a Professional Grout Cleaning Service

When you hire a professional company for grout sealing they will use professional grade products while also using their years of training and expertise to ensure that the job is done the right way. Ultimately what you should realize is that the cost of grout sealing is well worth it. It will help your grout to last longer, which will save you money as well as a lot of hard work.
Once you realize how important it is that your tile floor is properly cared for the next thing you need to do is hire a professional company for tile cleaning and grout cleaning. There are a lot of handyman type services out there that may claim to be able to clean your tile and grout, but hiring them would be a mistake.

San Antonio Tile And Grout Cleaning (Contd.)

A tile cleaning service in San Antonio isn't just about cleaning your tile.  It's also about cleaning and possibly sealing your grout too...

Why Is Grout Cleaning Important?

As we covered previously, a professional tile and grout cleaning company doesn't use a simple mopping process to clean your tile floors. Instead, they will use a powerful steam cleaner to sanitize them, and then a vacuum to remove anything that may have been trapped in the grout. They will then polish your floors, and if you elect to have them do it they may also apply a floor sealer. While a floor sealer is an additional expense, it is well worth it because it helps to protect your floors so that they will last longer.
When it comes to cleaning your tile floors cleaning the actual tile is fairly simple. In fact, with something as simple as a mop and some bleach you can easily clean and disinfect your tile floors without much difficulty and get some of the results that you would have with a tile cleaning service. So why would you want to hire a professional company for grout cleaning? Because while you probably spend a good amount of time sweeping and mopping your floors it's very unlikely that you dedicate as much time and effort into cleaning the grout. That's where all of the dirt, grime, and germs are going to build up over time.

The Importance of Grout Sealing

While you could try to scrub the grout out by hand, this is both time consuming as well as bad for your grout. When you apply a lot of pressure and scrub your grout you will succeed in cleaning it, but you'll also succeed in wearing it down more quickly. That's why a professional tile cleaning company is a better option. Instead of scrubbing your grout they will use a steam cleaner and vacuum, which will leave the grout clean without damaging it.
When you had your tile floors put in one thing that should have been done is the grout should have been sealed.
So remember, that's the true mark of a professional.  They don't just clean your tile.  They clean your grout as well.

How to Find the Best Tile and Grout Cleaning Service Provider in Spring Branch, TX (Conclusion)

Spring Branch Tile Cleaning Service | (210) 637-5050
Spring Branch Tile Cleaning Service | (210) 637-5050

You want to do a bit of homework before you hire a Spring Branch tile cleaning service. One way to find a good one is look at their online reviews and testimonials.  But how accurate are they.

Take Reviews With a Grain of Salt: Look at Your Tile Cleaning Service's Experience Level and License

As we covered previously, some service providers often pay for fake – cooked up - reviews in an effort to portray an impressive service delivery track record intended to lure you into hiring their services. Therefore, before you base your decision on high ratings and reviews, ensure that they meet most, if not all, of the other qualities mentioned in this article.
The best way to gauge how serious a tile cleaning company in Spring Branch is to check whether they are licensed and insured. Being licensed means that they are legally recognized by the state and are authorized to offer these services.
So, where does insurance come in? Damages during tile and grout cleaning procedures rarely occur, but in case they do, an insurance cover guarantees you full compensation for the damages you may incur. That's why it would be prudent to confirm this before hiring a cleaning company.

Service Packages: Another Sign of a Professional Tile Cleaning Service

Different service providers offer different packages. Now, depending on your needs, finding a company that offers an all-inclusive service package may be a great idea. These packages may include tile cleaning, grout cleaning, grout sealing, stone cleaning and restoration services all bundled into one package.
Obviously, it is way cheaper to get a comprehensive service package rather than paying for each service individually. But, if you are just in need of one or two cleaning services, then paying for them individually would be a more cost-effective option.
Lastly, how affordable, are they? Yes, cost matters a lot. There's no point of paying expensively for services that you would have gotten for less. This doesn't necessarily imply that cheap offers are the best – No, that is far from that. It's just meant to push you to find the best offers before hiring.
And that's why a little bit of research is always advisable. This helps you to locate the best companies that offer their cleaning services at the most competitive rates. A dollar saved is a dollar earned, right?
As you can see, finding the best tile and grout cleaning company is not that hard. It just takes a little research and time. Therefore, stop worrying about your messy, unappealing and hard to clean tiles and grout lines – let the professionals handle that for you. To you, it may be a hard and demanding task, but to them, it's always a walk in the park. A reputable cleaning tile cleaning service will have your tiles clean and shining in a jiffy.

Bulverde Tile and Grout Cleaning: Call Today and Improve Your Floor (Conclusion)

Professional Tile Cleaning in San Antonio | (210) 637-5050
Find the Best Tile Cleaning Service in
Bulverde, TX 210-637-5050

Hiring a tile cleaning service in Bulverde isn't just for your tile, it's for your grout as well.

Tile and Cleaning Services Save Your Aching Back

As we covered previously, grout gets dirty quickly. Besides attracting dirt, grout also retains moisture. If left untended, the dirt builds up gradually and starts to spread over other areas of your floor. Before you know it, the dirt build up is too much to contain.
In this case, a professional touch from a tile cleaning company in Bulverde is necessary. You might think that all you would need to do is get a bucket of soapy water, a scrub brush, and a bunch of scrubbing and your floor would be clean.  However, there is much more to it than that.  A professional has the right  cleaning equipment and solutions to break down the dirt and sticky residue for a satisfactory result.  Do you want another reason to hire a pro?

Grout Cleaning takes a Lot of Time

Each tile is surrounded by strips of grout. Getting on all fours to clean all the grout strips is not only time wasting but tedious as well. It would take you at least an hour to be done with ta single room if you are lucky. How do  you clean your grout?  The best way is that you have to have kneepads and handpads, and we are not kidding here, a toothbrush.  Toothbrushes or applicators are the best way to clean grout if you're trying this on your own.  On the other hand, a professional has been doing this for ages. It means that they can tackle the task in half the amount of time that you'll take.  In addition, they often have a team of people that can help you to clean your tile and grout, so the job is going to go a lot faster.  What's more is that they can recommend strategies to keep your tile and grout looking great.
One method is to use grout sealing.  Grout sealing means that the grout is sealed with a clear, impregnating sealer that fills all of the many pores that grout has.  As a result, this repels stains and helps to keep your grout looking clean.
So that is the professional difference.  It's not just tile cleaning or even grout cleaning that is the mark of a true professional, it's the extra details.  That way you know you've not only found a tile cleaning service, you've found the best tile cleaning service in Bulverde.

What is Grout Cleaning and Sealing?

Most people make a big mistake when they wish to clean their grout. One thing is that they usually wet mop their floor. Grout is naturally porous, which makes sense as it is predominantly made of sand. When you wet mop your floor, leftover water can permeate the grout, leaving behind moisture which leads to odor and potential health risks. What you want to do is hire a professional tile cleaning service in San Antonio to clean your grout and tile for you.
A professional tile cleaning service has access to all of the equipment as well as cleaning solutions that are professional grade. As a result, they'll be able to clean your grout for you thoroughly and deeply and bring back it's original color. Once they are done cleaning your tile, it is likely that they will apply grout sealant on top of your floor to make your grout resistant to stains.

How Can Grout Sealing Help?

When an impregnating sealer is applied to your grout, it seeps into the grout's many pores and makes a barrier to stains. This helps to keep your floor looking it's best. Sealed grout can last up to five years, and with the help of a professional grout care company, you'll know what to do between visits. One thing is to put throw rugs at the entrance of every room. They trap grit and dirt. Next, if you are going to mop, do not use any harsh chemicals like bleach or ammonia as these likely will strip your grout sealant away. You also want to be careful with wet mopping. Some municipal water systems contain trace amounts of chlorine in them which can also affect your grout.  A grout cleaning and sealing company can help you to avoid this potential risk to your floor
Once you have sealed your grout, you'll be amazed at the level of shine on your floor. Since it it stain resistant, you don't have to worry about spills as much as you used to. And it is easy to clean up as well. In fact, getting grout cleaning and sealing done is one of those investments that you can make in your home with proven results.
So what are you waiting for? Call a professional grout cleaning service in San Antonio.

Grout Cleaning and Sealing

As we covered previously, if you want to clean your tile yourself, you probably aren't aware of the fact that almost as important if not more so than your tile is your grout.  Grout is more than just a division point between your tiles, it is also a cushion for your tile.
professional San Antonio tile cleaning service will likely recommend something like grout sealing. Grout sealing protects your tile as well as your grout, both from damage and from stains as well.
Some stains are worse than others.  For example, grout is very porous.  If it is sanded grout, then it has sand as part of it's composition.  Have you ever heard of non porous sand?  Neither have we.  Since grout is so porous, that means that some spills can sink right into the grout, and go under the tile.  Why does that matter?  Well without grout sealing, the grout can be exposed to bacteria that not only is a potential health hazard, it can start eroding the grout under the tile.  One wrong step and you have to find a way to replace the elegant Spanish tile that you have with a pattern that is very close, but not exact.

What Does Grout Sealing Do?

What does grout sealing do?  Well, if you go for clear grout sealing, it will fill each of the pores with a thick, liquid-proof resin that will harden in place and not only give your grout a shiny and glossy appearance, it will prevent stains from penetrating.  How long does grout sealing last?  Well, if you follow the care instructions provided by your tile cleaning service, you can expect your sealed grout to last at least five years.  There are grout sealing projects that we've done that are more than a decade old, and they still look as good as they did when we first applied them.
So take care of your floor.  Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach, and make sure that you sweep your floor at least once a week.  Follow the care instructions for your tile, and ask the advice of a professional tile cleaning service in San Antonio.

Professional Tile Cleaning in San Antonio Texas: What To Know, What to Avoid

There is a difference between professional tile cleaning in San Antonio, and do it yourself tile cleaning. The difference?  The details of course.

Hire a Tile Cleaning Service For Floor Care

Do you want to keep up your investment?  One way is to invest in a professional tile cleaning service for floor care.  Floor care is a thing, before you ask.  If you do a tile cleaning project yourself, you might find that your tile and grout looks dingy and dirty.  Why?
Well, a lot of times, people read something somewhere, or rush out to buy a product without realizing what's in it.  A lot of floor polish for example has wax and oil.  It will indeed give your floor a nice shine, but after a while, the wax and oil will build up to the point that your floor looks, well, gummy.  A professional tile cleaning service will know enough to tell you not to use that product, or better yet, use a product that is a professional grade product designed for floor professionals.

Floor Care is in the Hands of Your San Antonio Tile Cleaning Service

Your San Antonio tile cleaning service knows all about floor care.  They know how to properly clean grout as well as clean tile and they  also can recommend the ways for you to care for your floor between visits.  For example, putting mats or throw rugs at entry points helps to trap dust and grit, and sweeping can remove dust and grit before it has a chance to settle. Another thing that they know to help your tile and grout is grout sealing.
Grout is naturally porous, which makes sense as it it largely composed of silica (sand).  Ever hear of non-porous sand?  Well, with grout sealing, the grout's pores are filled with an impregnating sealer which fills the pores up and helps to prevent stains from occurring.  It can last up to five years, or even longer if you follow your tile cleaning services instructions to the letter, and gives your floor a beautiful shine.
So remember, it is all about the details.  You could if you were willing to invest a lot of time, money and effort achieve the same results as if you had hired a professional tile cleaning service.  However, it might be a better idea to save money, time, and effort by simply calling a professional tile cleaning service in San Antonio.

A Professional Tile Cleaning Service Has Both Knowledge and Experience

As we covered in a previous article, marble, limestone, and travertine are all types of natural stone heavily used in homes. They are beautiful, and add elegance and grace to your environment, however, they are also members of the calcium carbonate family of stones. As such, they require highly specialized care. If you have a ceramic tile floor in your kitchen and you spill your coffee or orange juice, you probably wipe it up and don't think anything more about it, however, if you spill anything acidic on a calcium carbonate surface, you might end up seeing your stone surface erode before your eyes.
But what about if you have ceramic or porcelain tile? Well, for one, harsh chemicals can strip the glaze from these tiles and cause damage to the grout as well. And that is yet another reason to consult a professional tile cleaning service in San Antonio, they know about grout care and cleaning.

Grout Cleaning and Care

Another good reason for hiring a professional service is they know how to take care of your grout.  Grout is an often overlooked component in floor care, but it matters a lot.  Grout is both a cement and a cushion for your tile, helping to protect the edges from cracking.   A professional tile cleaning service will clean your grout and recommend services that will help it to stay clean such as grout sealing.
Grout sealing helps to fill in the numerous pores in the grout and helps to protect it from stains and damage.  If your grout is protected, your tile is protected as well.  If you want more reasons to hire a tile cleaning service is they will provide you with tips that you can do safely yourself between visits.  For example, damp mopping is a lot better than wet mopping as it doesn't seep into the grout or cause any water related damage.
As a homeowner, every component of your home is an investment, from the new storm windows and roof to your alarm system, but there is one element that is always there and is often forgotten:  your floor.  That's the big difference between do it yourself tile cleaning and hiring a professional tile cleaning service; they know how to protect your investment.

Grout Recoloring in San Antonio: A New Look For a Low Price (Contd.)

Whether you need to get grout cleaning in San Antonio done is determined by the state of your grout. But what do you do once it is clean?

Grout Sealing:  Keep Your Floor's Look, or Change It?

So you've successfully cleaned your grout.  But let us ask you this.  Are you happy with your floor's color? Want a new look.  Well, an affordable way to change your floor is to get grout color sealing done.
As we covered previously, there are two types of grout sealing. There is clear grout sealing, which puts a transparent coat on your grout and helps to repel stains, and then there is grout color sealing, which serves the same purpose as clear sealing, but with one twist, it can let you change the color of your grout.

How Long Does Grout Color Sealing Last?

It used to be that grout was white, black, or some off white color.  Now, grout is almost as diverse as pain, with dozens of colors available.  Which one is right for your home?  It depends on what you want to do with the room.  When in doubt, go with earth tones.  Above all, however, make sure that it either complements, or matches your tile.  You don't want to do grout color sealing with any sort of  natural stone, as the pores of the stone can absorb the color sealing.  But going back to earth tones, they go with practically everything and they can accentuate any other decor in a room.  How long does grout color sealing last?  Well, as long as you treat your floor right, i.e. sweeping it, and following the cleaning instructions providing by your tile cleaning service in San Antonio, on average, it lasts about five years before it needs to be touched up or replaced.
When it is time to replace your grout color sealing, make sure you hire a professional grout cleaning company in San Antonio.  If you're not careful, when you are removing the grout color sealing,  you could end up damaging your tile or your grout.  And damaged grout is a big problem.  Grout serves as a cushion as well as a reinforcement for your tiles.  If there are gaps in the grout, particularly under a tile, it can cause the tile to crack.
So ultimately, you want to hire a grout cleaning service in San Antonio for all of your grout care needs.

Grout Recoloring in San Antonio: A New Look For a Low Price

If you want a new look for your floor, have you considered grout recoloring in San Antonio?  No?  Well, you should, and this article will explore why.

Grout Cleaning Vs. Recoloring

Grout Color Sealing in-San Antonio | (210) 637-5050
Grout Color Sealing in-San Antonio | (210) 637-5050
Originally, grout came in one or two colors.  It was usually a beige or it was a white.  As both are neutral colors that go well with other colors, it is easy to see why.  However, what happens when your grout gets dirty?  Well, then you want grout cleaning, or if you want a brand new look, grout color sealing.  First off though, what exactly is grout, and what purpose does it serve?
Well according to Jefferson Kolle of This Old House magazine:
"When grout does its job — locking tiles tight, keeping out water, and giving floors and walls a finished look — nobody pays much attention. It's only when grout fails, becoming stained, cracked, or falling out altogether, that people take notice.
But grout deserves more respect. "Not only does grout fill the voids, it makes the floor, wall, or countertop stronger by bonding the tiles together and preventing the edges of a tile from chipping and cracking," says David Goodman, the tile contractor for This Old House's Nantucket project.
Cement-based grout
Grout comes in two basic types, and the choice of which one to use depends not on the tiles but on the width of the joints between them. Narrow joints of 1/8 inch or less call for unsanded grout, a pudding-smooth blend of Portland cement and powdered pigments mixed with water. Joints wider than 1/8 inch get sanded grout — the same material, but with sand added. The sand helps bulk up the grout and keeps it from shrinking in the joints.
Three decades ago, when he started in the business, Goodman says, "we'd just add powdered grout to a bucket of water and away we'd go." But older cement-based grout was brittle and prone to cracking. It also dried irregularly, leaving colors inconsistent. Today's grouts use polymer additives, which ensure color quality and increased flexibility, allowing for joint widths of up to 1 1/4 inches." [SOURCE]
Kind of makes you respect grout a little more doesn't it?  But what about grout sealing?

The Two Types of Grout Sealing

There are two types of grout sealing. There is clear grout sealing, which puts a transparent coat on your grout and helps to repel stains, and then there is grout color sealing, which serves the same purpose as clear sealing, but with one twist, it can let you change the color of your grout. Which one is right for your situation?
The answer depends on what you want for your floor. If you want to see a brand new look for your floor, than you might consider going for color sealing. If you just want your floor to look clean and keep it's original look, then regular grout sealing is right for you. When in doubt call a grout cleaning company in San Antonio.

Tile Cleaning in San Antonio, Texas:  Surprising Things That Can Cause Damage

As we covered previously, there are several mistakes that people make when cleaning tile and grout.  In addition to cleaning however, a lot of ordinary household objects can cause damage to your tile and your grout.  Furniture for example can scratch or impact the grout and tile causing crumbling to occur.
If you use a vacuum cleaner with a beater bar, it can dull your finish or in a worst case scenario scratch your tile.  Your potted plants can also cause damage, mostly water damage, so make sure that you have drip trays underneath the pots that don't have any cracks.  One thing that people don't think about where tile cleaning is concerned is how frequently you should be doing tile cleaning.

Cleaning your Tile:  Remove the Dirt

Dirt and grit are the worst things that can damage your floor, so make sure you get the dirt off.  You should sweep your tile once a day, and mop it once a week. To keep the dirt off the tile, put mats on the entryways.  Most of the dirt that comes into a home is tracked in by foot traffic.  By putting in mats, you'll get most of the dirt before it reaches your tile.   When you mop your tile floor, don't wet mop, use damp mopping instead.
If you put too much water on your floor, it can cause stains and discoloration.  Make sure you damp mop your floor, then blot dry it to keep residue from getting left behind.  On the subject of mopping, before you mop your floor, make sure that the floor is both caulked and that it has had grout sealing done on it.   Grout sealing protects  your grout from damage as well as wear and tear and stains, particularly if an impregnating sealer is used.  If you have ceramic tile or porcelain, don't use oil or wax-based cleaners on it, or it will increase the danger of slips.
Tile cleaning is a lot more than most people think.  So make sure you know what to do as well as what not to do.  When in doubt, take no chances.  Call a tile cleaning service in for the best results.

As we covered previously, there are several reasons to get grout cleaning done.  Increases Your Home’s Resale Value
Many cleaning solutions (homemade or store bought) that people use contain chemicals that are harsh to the floors, causing deterioration of the material over the years. Besides, these chemicals are also extremely harsh to the skin, clothes and emit fumes that can cause respiratory problems to family members and pets.
Professional tile cleaning services  have commercial cleaning solutions that are specially formulated to remove dirt, mildew, grease, bacteria and lime from your grout. By having your floor professionally cleaned on a regular basis, you’ll also be maintaining your home’s overall value. It’s the small details of home care, such as clean and shiny tile and grout, which will increase the value of your home when you’re ready to resell it.

Saves Time and Money: Hire a Professional for Tile Cleaning

Another reason to hire professional grout cleaners is because they can help you save you time. With a busy work schedule, and a family that needs your attention, it’s not easy to find enough time to clean your grout personally. Luckily, the professionals can handle the cleaning on your behalf, leaving you with more time to do chores that are more important. Or better yet, you can use that free time to spend with your family.
Opting for professional cleaning can also help to save you a lot of money in the long run. This is because a majority of cleaners charge a fixed amount since they have all the required cleaners and tools to get the job done. On the other hand, if you decide to do the cleaning yourself, you’ll have to procure the right cleaning solutions, sealants and equipment, which can be very expensive.
Compensation Assurance In Case Of Accidents
Most professional tile and grout cleaners are insured. So, you can rest easy knowing that you’ll be compensated in case you incur property loss or damage, due to an accident caused by the cleaners. However, if you decide to do the cleaning yourself, you’ll have to take care of the extra expenses on your own.
Be wise and hire professionals to clean and refresh the look of your grout. It’s a sure way of saving your time, money and energy, as well as maintaining the value of your property.  The best pros to have working for you are professional tile cleaning services.

What is Grout and How Can Grout Cleaning Help?

Grout is a construction material mostly used in filling voids and seal joints made by simply mixing water, cement and sand. This substance is porous, that is, it is really susceptible to any stain and can also lose it's original color very quickly if not properly cleaned. Grout cleaning is important almost in any place there is water. This is because, if water is not allowed to dry as quickly as possible, mold and mildew start to build up and the major effect is that they start to turn dark colors. Grout cleaning therefore, is one skill better done by a professional with the required skills as compared to when one prefers to do it by themselves. Grout cleaning jobs basically are never the same since different stains do need entirely different methods of treatments, an idea professional grout cleaners are fully aware of and that's why they should be best considered for the job. Condition for grout cleaning is when color is sealed or clear sealed, otherwise it won't be needed. That's why most homeowners need to consider grout sealing after a cleaning job is done.

Grout Sealing and Your Grout

Grout sealing, particularly when an impregnating sealer is used on it, not only keeps  your grout looking good, it also helps to keep your tile safe as well.  And that's why keeping your grout clean and fresh always makes the difference in how either your floor or even shower stalls should look. Most  tiled flooring and grout should have a high quality sealer applied for maintaining its appearance. This is because, most unsealed grout is difficult to keep clean and for that, a sealer is always recommended.
A professional grout sealing company can offer you many different options to pick from.  Some of these options include, either one applies a clear floor sealer after cleaning the floors and grouts or to apply a colored grout sealer for some specific surfaces which offers restoration to the appearance of the tile grout and also offer a long term protection to surfaces and makes it easy to not only clean up but to keep clean as well.  We will cover more on this topic in a future article
For now however, know that you've got a choice.  Call your grout cleaning service.

Ceramic Tile Cleaning: The Skinny on Tile

If you want to hire a service to clean your tile, you need to know a few pieces of information.  One of the things you should know in addition to your square footage is the size of your tile.

What are Standard Tile Sizes?

First off, know that there  is no such thing as standard tile size. Tile manufacturer offer sizes from 1/2 of an inch by 1/2 of an inch to a whopping 24 inch tile.  There are typical sizes of tile to be found, however.  Ceramic tile for example is usually in squares or rectangles 4 X 4, 6 X 6, 8 X 8, etc.  Tiles are of different thickness.  For example, 12” x 12” ceramic tiles are 1/3 of an inch thick. Generally bigger tiles are thicker, and smaller tiles are thinner.  The size, type, and thickness of the tile will determine the sort of tile cleaning that will be involved.  Of equal, but often understated importance is the grout.
Grout helps to cushion ceramic tile as well as strengthen it.  And you want your tile strong to prevent tile from cracking.  While ceramic tile and porcelain tile are relatively cheap, you don't want to have to replace your tile and run the risk of your tile being mismatched as it will stand out in your floor.  For example, let's say  that you have a lovely Mexican cobalt blue tile, and you break it.  No problem.  It's just a matter of going out and buying another cobalt blue tile.  Wrong.  More likely your tile will be newer and as such will have a slightly darker hue than your original tile will.  And it will be very obvious that you replaced it.  That's where tile cleaning comes in.

Tile Cleaning Vs. Replacing

With tile cleaning you can usually walk on your floor within a few minutes.  Replacing your tile will make the room that you're doing it in unavailable for a day or two at least.  Professional tile cleaning services also have techniques that not only clean y our tile, then protect your tile as well.  With things such as grout sealing and tile sealing, it will help to protect your tile and make clean up a breeze.
So remember, there is a big difference between cleaning tile and replacing it.  As such, you want to hire someone that you can trust to clean your tile.

Grout Sealing: What it Is and Why You Need it Part 1

Part one of a series on grout sealing explores the concept and why you should consider getting it done for your floor.

Why Should You Get Grout Sealing Done

Why should you get grout sealing done?  Let's start with clear sealing first.  Whether you are using resin-based grout or concrete-based grout, both types have one thing in common:  They are extremely porous.  As a result of this, that means anything from spills to dirt tracked in from outside can leave stains on your grout.  Most grout lines are snow white when they are first laid down.  Over time, however, grout lines can darken to the point of being black.
Even mopping your floor with slightly dirty water can cause your grout to become stained.  Another problem that you will face without cleaning and sealing your grout is some stains are worse than others.  For example, anything corrosive can eat away at your grout and tile.  The worst types of grout damage are not just the gaps or cracks you can see, but the ones that are underneath the tile.
Grout is not just between the tile, it is also a bit under each tile as well.  As a result, it acts like a cushion for your tile and helps to strengthen it.  When there is a gap under the tile, it can cause pressure to be placed on the tile without any support.  This can lead to a cracked tile.  The key to stopping this from happening is a two pronged approach.

Grout Cleaning and Sealing: The Two Pronged Approach

First off, you want to clean your grout.  This will remove any dirt as well as bleaching out any stains.  Once it has been cleaned, then you want to make sure that you get clear coat sealant applied.  This sealer will fill the pores of not only your grout but your tile as well.  As a result, you will have a liquid proof barrier between your tile as well as your grout and anything that can stain it or otherwise mar it's appearance.  In addition, clear grout sealing lasts for a long time, sometimes as much as a decade.  One other benefit is that it makes your floor shine.

So let's recap shall we?  It protects your tile.  It also protects your grout.  It keeps your floor shiny and bright.  All of these are very good reasons to get grout sealing done.

This concludes part one of our series on grout sealing.  For more information on this topic, be sure to read part two and part three as well.
